It has a creepy sensation to the story, not in a I’m-not-going-to-sleep-tonight kind of way but it certainly takes a turn for the darker side with murder & stuff. It started with something in the lines of what I had imagined and suddenly it starts getting darker and darker. I went into it with little knowledge of the plot. I had mixed feelings about the writing style, some times it was lyrical and magical and amazing, while other times I felt like the author need to chill and simplify things, here is an example:īy the way, this is not a sunshine and flowers kind of book. We are thrown into the world and we don’t know anything about it, they are using some bizarre terms, the good thing is that our MC was also confused and then both us the readers and the MC start to get comfortable with the world building. I guessed this will be fast since a whole story is written in a small number of pages, but it was a bit too fast for me. If you follow my reviews, you know that I like fast-pacing, just give me what is important to the story and no need for all the tropes. This keeps getting compared to Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, a few pages into the story and I knew why this could have been called Miss Eleanor West’s Home for Peculiar Children, the similarities could not be missed, but fast forward a few chapters and you will have a different story (Kind of). Fairy tale/ Fiction/ Fantasy Fiction/ Dark fantasy
